StreamSend Review: Email Service Provider

streamsendAs part of our ESP Round-up we evaluated six Email Service Providers. The fact that StreamSend made it to the evaluation stage is proof that print advertising does work. I saw a full page ad in BtoB Marketing Magazine and was impressed enough with the ad that I looked into them further and ultimately decided to add them to the evaluation stage. During our evaluation StreamSend started off at a disadvantage because they have a new user interface StreamSend 2.0 but at the time of our review, it didn’t have key features such as triggered event capabilities. So we were only able to evaluate their previous version as it had the features that were part of our requirements.

User Interface

Editor’s note: After our review and selection of an ESP, StreamSend 2.0 released a version that has triggered events and full API support. At the request of StreamSend I have removed the User Interface review as it was of a product they no longer make available to the public and therefore did not serve anyone’s interest.

Deliverability

StreamSend doesn’t have a dedicated deliverability team but they do have authentication tools and an optional third party accreditation through Habeous. Part of my review was to send the same email campaign using each ESP that was in the round-up to determine what the baseline deliverability rates for each ESP.

Results of the StreamSend test email campaign:

  • Number of emails sent: 200
  • delivered: 168
  • Hard Bounces: 9
  • Soft Bounces: 24
  • Unique Opens: 24 (13% open rate)

A 13% open rate was average for the ESPs that were in our round-up.

Final Thoughts

While StreamSend had an average score in deliverability, the fact that we were only able to evaluate the classic version, they didn’t have a dedicated deliverability team, a significant share of the Email Marketing space and our user experience kept us from choosing StreamSend as a solution.

If you are looking for an affordable solution that has advanced features but do not need a dedicated team or market leadership then StreamSend 2.0 might be worth checking out.

  1. Your review and even your Screen Shot above is of our old version StreamSend 1.0. We have had StreamSend 2.0 out for some time. When was this review done?

We do appreciate you reviewing us but could you please review our latest version?

Also, you say StreamSend 2.0 at the end of the review but that is not the case, here. I think this is just a misunderstanding.

  2. Neil,
Thanks for taking the time to respond. It is clear from my review that it is of StreamSend “Classic” and not StreamSend2.0.

I repeat that fact several times during the course of the review that we had to review ESPs that matched the specific requirements of our Email modernization project and that at the time of the review, April-May 2008, StreamSend 2.0 did not have API functionality or triggered event capability.

Are you saying that there has been a recent update to the solution to now include this functionality or that your sales representative was misinformed about the capabilities of your product?

  3. I use streamsend 2.0 since a month and I found it the best ,fastest and easiest way to send bulk of e-mails to track them, and learn from the e-mail readers statistics, Plus they have a very suitable and good prices.

    Good luck to streamsend team

  4. i’ve been with streamsend since december of last year. it was a rough start at first with their downtime. But I have noticed massive improvements since then. The version i’m using (2.0 i believe) has the best user interface all around! And of course as Darweesh points out, it’s priced very very well for such a great service. Thanks guys!

  5. I’ve been using StreamSend for a couple of years now… I’ve used the original version and the 2.0 version. The new version is much improved (better user interface and easier to use.)

I also like the fact that we get our own IP Address (it helped with our delivery) I also added on Habeas since they seem to have a really good pricing on it…

I just tried out the trigger feature and it worked well…

I would recommend trying out their new version.

  6. I use Streamsend every few days for shots of 5k recips everytime. They are da best.
